The Art of Scratching Documentary

oscomposer · Sep 23, 2019 · published to YouTube

This video is a short documentary about the art of scratching on turntables and how it became a worldwide phenomenon. In the video, we see Dj visionaries like Kool DJ Herc to Grand Wizard Theodore, who experimented and stretched the classic DJing bounds. Scratching on the turntables and this new form of DJing led to the birth of breakdancing and spawned Hip-hop music into one of the best genres in music history.  Soon after, the art of scratching became a sensation, which leads to many styles and techniques. As a scratch D.J. myself, I share my interpretation of the basics of scratching. I also present my good friend DJ Loup Rouge from scratch D.J. Academy in NYC. He's a D.J. instructor at the school and well- known for his skills all over the world. Some of the clips used in the video do not belong to me, I don't own the right to those video clips on Kool Herc, Grand Wizard Theodore,
