This massive 2-hour and 2-minute digital transfer captures the infamous September 1985 Senate Commerce Committee hearings on "porn rock." The hearings were driven by the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), a committee founded by the "Washington Wives" (including Tipper Gore and Susan Baker) seeking to impose a voluntary rating system on music containing explicit sexual, violent, or occult lyrics. The first segment features the PMRC's presentation, complete with a slide show of heavy metal and rock album covers (Mötley Crüe, W.A.S.P., Twisted Sister) and dramatic readings of explicit lyrics entered into the Congressional Record. The footage then shifts to the three primary witnesses who testified against the PMRC. Frank Zappa delivers a blistering, highly intellectual defense of the First Amendment, referring to the PMRC's proposal as a "sinister kind of toilet training program.
